Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Slice the onions into thick rings (about ¼ inch thick) and separate them into individual rings.
Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish or any ovenproof casserole dish.
Layer the onion rings evenly in the baking dish. Make sure they are spread out but slightly overlapping.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, pour the butter evenly over the onions.
Season the onions with garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and thyme (if using).
Sprinkle the mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the onions. If you want extra crunch, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top as well.
Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, until the onions are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
