Instructions

1. Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

2. Prepare the Bread Pudding:

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Add the cubed bread to the mixture and gently fold until all the bread is soaked. If using, add raisins or chocolate chips. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb.

3. Bake:

Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set. A knife inserted should come out clean.

4. Make the Caramel Sauce:

While the bread pudding is baking, prepare the caramel sauce. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Once it starts to boil, stop stirring and let it cook until it turns a deep amber color (about 5-7 minutes). Watch closely to prevent burning.
Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream, butter, vanilla extract, and salt. The mixture may bubble up, so be cautious!

5. Serve:

Once the bread pudding is done, allow it to cool slightly. Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce on top.
