Directions

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a muffin pan very well.

Brown the minced onion and ground beef in a skillet until no pink remains. Drain well.

Add barbecue sauce to the skillet and cook on low heat until the sauce thickens. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and spices. Add milk and beaten egg, stirring until well combined.

Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and the cooked ground beef mixture. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes.

Divide the mixture among 9 muffin wells in the prepared pan. Cut each cheese string into 3 pieces and gently press 1 piece into the center of each muffin. Cover with the batter.

Bake for 19-21 minutes until the puffs are lightly browned and puffed.

Garnish with pickles if desired, serve warm, and enjoy!
